The Foundation 6141 Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior in the counties served by Foundation 6141, specifically Monroe County for the 2024 year. The amount of $2,000 is made payable to the college the student will attend.

This scholarship is named in memory of Nick Hopkins, Illinois State SWAT Trooper, who was killed in August 2019. Nick lived with intention. He worked hard and always showed up for his family, friends and team. He believed in making tomorrow a better place to be. Nick had a passion for life and a desire to make the most out of every opportunity. The desire of Foundation 6141 is to provide a scholarship to a student needing financial assistance for a quality college education.
Applicants for the scholarship must desire to major in Criminal Justice or Psychology, demonstrate leadership and participation in a variety of school activities, show genuine concern for others, demonstrate exemplary character, maintain at least a C average in their high school education, and demonstrate a need for financial assistance. The recipient must maintain full time enrollment in college for the winter school year in order to qualify for the full amount of the scholarship.
Congratulations to Mary Brinkmann who is our 2022 Scholarship Recipient! Mary plans to attend the University of Southern Indiana in the fall majoring is Criminal Justice and Psychology. Mary was raised to understand that it is very important to help others in your community. She was inspired to choose a career in criminal justice by her Grandfather who served as a U.S. Marine followed by a career in law enforcement. She is involved with 4H, Girl Scouts (Trifecta Award Recipient), St. Baldrick Foundation, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Waterloo Police Explorers Program.
